simple lunch today i almost wasn’t in the mood to eat. the dark, gloomy weather outside just makes me want to go to bed. it took me a while to get hungry.

while i was eating, i went through etsy and found the fabric i’d like for our nursery for cheap. now, i just need to find out how much yardage i need for things and get going. the yellows and the browns go so well with both the walls of our townhouse and the idea of staying gender-neutral. all of the fabrics are from a collection called Aviary by Joel Dewberry.

i’d also like to purchase some of the wood grain fabric for the crib skirt and details, as found here and here. i really like this rust version, if only because this etsy seller is asking more than i expected for the dark pine colorway that i prefer.

that last one is on sale and there’s only 8 yards left, so i’d better make up my mind and purchase it soon! i believe i need 2 solid yards for a fitted sheet, but i wonder if i should get 2 sets of 2 yards each so i have extra. hmm.

i found some patterns i could use here and here, and there are also a few online tutorials like this one and this one. for a bumper pad, i think i could just order something like this from ikea and create a cover for it; that way it would have the right amount of padding.

BONUS: this is my 100th post!

19 weeks

well, here i am at the end of 19 weeks. in maternity clothes. with a baby bump that i can’t hide. nope, i’m not just gaining weight … there is totally something in there now! and it moves. oh, did it move yesterday. in the morning. in the afternoon. in the evening. during the concert (After Edmund, Tedashii, Mike’s Chair, and LaCrae). after the concert. move, move, move. i’m wondering if it’ll nap today because yesterday was so darn busy.

so far hubby hasn’t been able to feel it from the outside yet. he can still hear move if he puts the side of his head against my belly, but if he’d been sitting next to me at work yesterday during all the aerobics, i have a feeling he might have been able to feel something. even at night, it seems as though our little one has a bit of performance anxiety already. the minute i say, “come try to feel it!” the baby stops moving. it’s funny … the first couple of times. now, it’s just silly. i know it’ll happen eventually … but, yeah. i’m impatient to share.

okay, back to work with me.

oh, when the sun finally comes out in fall, it’s definitely my favorite lighting. dramatic and golden, full of sharp shadows. very lovely. fall is my favorite season, not just because of the changing of the leaves but because of the color of the air itself.

10-28 my favorite day of the week

10-28 my favorite day of the week

blt on wheat and potato soup from the gas station up the street (コンビニ昼ご飯). i haven’t been able to go wrong there, yet.

i’m so glad the sun is out today … i’ve been so tired this week. it could be because my sleeping at night has become less and less restful over the past couple of weeks. yes, i went out and bought that body pillow. yes, i try to sleep with the pillow between my knees, on one or the other side. however, after a couple of hours, the hip i’m sleeping on hurts and it’s time to wake up and roll over. rinse. lather. repeat. all night long. until, finally, around 4-4:30 in the morning my hips are angry, my legs are falling asleep, and i’m forced to pile up a couple of pillows and sleep sitting up in bed, hugging my body pillow for support. an hour after that, once the pain’s subsided, i can curl up on my side again until i finally drag myself out of bed around 7-ish.

oh, the adventures of being pregnant.

everything else is fun, mostly, except for the discomfort after dark. i don’t even have any glaringly evil stretch marks (thanks to cocoa butter), but … yeah. i miss sleeping comfortably. i really do.

i made a store on etsy. right now, there’s only one thing listed, but there’s post cards coming from some of my flickr photos and some stationery ideas i have to print on the gocco once my screens and bulbs arrive in the mail. so, stay tuned! there will be plenty more eventually!

just like my post about changing tables, i’m wondering if a rocking chair is really a nursery necessity. so many nursery interior photos show some amazing designer rocking chair in one corner. yes, i plan on breast feeding, so i am quite aware i need somewhere to sit down and feed my child. however, our nursery is also an office and a music room. it’s a shared space because we’re in a two bedroom townhouse.

will our baby never be able to sleep without a glider or a rocking chair? will we be forever doomed with a grumpy baby just because we can’t rock it to sleep upstairs (the lazy boy downstairs rocks a little).

i’m sure i could find cheaper ones on craig’s list or at consignment/goodwill, but if we do need a changing table, a pack’n’play (for downstairs, travel, etc), and then a rocking chair … in addition to a car/seat stroller, cloth diapers, breast pump, bottles, etc … well, shoot. i’d better get a second job!

edit: actually, i have a feeling that if i wipe my 2007 black macbook clean and sell it for even $400-500, we can totally afford some baby furniture. at least a dresser/changing table and a rocking chair … like this one!
